Venice, July 22 – For the second year running, OVS has been ranked first out of the world’s 250 largest fashion brands and retailers, reviewed for the Fashion Transparency Index 2022 by Fashion Revolution, a global movement that encourages the fashion industry to build a system that is more respectful of human rights and the environment, at every stage in the production cycle.
The Fashion Revolution index reviews the transparency of brands, using the information they disclose on their environmental policies, respect for human rights, purchasing practices, and their policies for monitoring production activities to bring about changes for the better.
“For us, transparency is about action: we want to increasingly enhance our precision, innovating control processes and tools to improve information quality”, says Antonio Margotti, Corporate Operating Officer, “Transparency is the most effective way to acquire knowledge and define policy areas. Sharing information is crucial to incentivise collaboration between brands and build a context where environmental and social practices can be improved in the fashion world.”
For years, OVS has been monitoring every aspect of its business, thanks to traceability tools and control processes. It communicates its performances and the targets reached clearly and directly on the ovscorporate.it site, making them accessible to all stakeholders.
As well as the information already disclosed in previous years, in 2021 the group published its plan for decarbonisation, approved by the Science Based Targets initiative, which envisages a further 46.2% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030 (already reduced by 85% between 2017 and 2019), and all the key data on the environmental and social performance of the supply chain. Thanks to this consolidated approach, once again, Fashion Transparency Index has ranked OVS in first place, with a rating of 78%.
